Aquatic Therapy
Just add water... and salt
West Park Rehab is an out-patient, privately owned, physical therapy practice in Franklin, PA. It opened in the winter of 2000 with the office located in a local YMCA. West Park Rehab began using the YMCA's spa pool 2 days a week as a means to offer an aquatic therapy program. As the increase in referrals for aquatic therapy grew, West Park was faced with the prospect to expand. In 2008, the clinic did expand and invested into its own facility including a 12,000 gallon pool.
At West Park Rehab, there are a variety of different patients that are sent to the pool. The practice has three different focus teams, which consist of a Physical Therapist supported by a Physical Therapist Assistant. The focus teams specialize in the treatment of the following areas: the spine, UE/hand and geriatric/low extremity. In addition, there is an aquatic team comprised of two PTAs. There are specific aquatic protocols for each group of patients treated, combining strengthening, stretching, static and dynamic activities.
